Get Motivated seminar May 1st

I went to a seminar in DM called “Get Motivated.” It’s one of those ½ infomercials, ½ really great speakers. Some of the highlights were Rudy Giuliani, George Foreman, Suze Orman and Steve Flat Tax Forbes. I’ll share the highlights. The points below are my summary of their comments.

Steve Forbes:
The economy is in very good shape, despite the woes portrayed in the media. We have high productivity, high liquidity and we’re the best economy in the world.
It’s a time to be disciplined and not buy into the “feels good” philosophy of abusing credit.
The current tax system is the biggest source of corruption in Washington, D.C., and is a monster beyond redemption. It’s the ridiculous price successful people and businesses have to pay for working hard and taking risks.
There’s too much money in the system right now and the Fed needs to quit pumping out currency. Forbes’ barometer for that is the price of gold. If gold is over $400 (it’s about $600 now), then we need more restrictive monetary policy.
Steve is an engaging speaker, really draws you in—even with 18,000 people in the room.

Suze Orman:
Be careful the words that you speak. Words become actions, actions become your character, your character becomes your destiny.
Before you speak, consider: is what you’re about to say kind, necessary and true?
Most people don’t get involved with their money—they’re so busy making it that they forget to take care of it.
Look inside yourself to see why you’re doing without.

Zig Ziglar:
One thing that nearly 100% of all successful executives have in common is endurance—physical and mental. They take care of themselves.

Rudy Giuliani:
Can I just say that he rocks?! He’s really charming and makes you feel like he knows what he’s doing.
Talked about 6 principles of leadership from his book, How to Lead in Difficult Times. They are: know what you believe in, be an optimist, have courage, relentlessly prepare, build a team and communicate.

He was the closer of the event, and did a fabulous job.
