Get into their heads--Advertising to Women

On average, a man’s brain is a bit larger and weighs about 4 ounces more than the brain of a woman. Men also have approximately 4% more brain cells (neurons) than women.

But…Science tells us that size is not a factor in determines intelligence.

Researchers focus on gray matter, that part of the working brain that allows us to think. When it comes down to gray matter, women have an advantage—approximately 55% to men’s 50%. And women have 4 TIMES as many connections (Corpus Callosum) between the left and right sides of their brains.

That’s 4 times the ability to cross between imagination, emotion and logic. Of course, women are better multi-taskers as part of this.

Women are generally….
More perceptive
More articulate
Verbally fluent
Better equipped to move data from one side of the brain to the other
More attuned to outside influence (body language, tone of voice, and other non-verbal cues)

Right brain of women…
General memories are much more based on emotion and experience, not just facts.
The home of intuition, emotional memory, ability to read people (their BS detectors are in overdrive—so be authentic!)
Loves to nurture and bond with others—responds with “reward behavior” (Reward behavior could be going to a favorite restaurant or movie, chocolate, sex, laughing)
Self-actualization—the whole Maslow’s hierarchy of needs thing. They want to be something more than they are—more than a just a mom, a career woman, a scholar, a wife, a cook—they want a complicated blend of all of them.
Or as I tell my husband, “do you know what women want? MORE!”
